4-Day Masai Mara Luxury Safari Overview
Enjoy a focused Masai Mara escape that gives you time to explore without changing accommodation each night. Your journey begins in Nairobi, continues to Mara Serena Safari Lodge for a three-night stay, and ends with a private road transfer back to Nairobi on Day 4.
An afternoon game drive introduces you to the reserve on arrival, followed by two full days of wildlife viewing. Choose between extended game drives with a picnic lunch and morning and afternoon outings with a break at the lodge, coordinated with your guide around conditions and your interests. A private vehicle gives your travelling party flexibility to spend longer at sightings and enjoy a comfortable safari pace.
This safari suits couples seeking a memorable getaway, families who value private guiding, and wildlife enthusiasts wanting more time in one destination. Wildlife sightings vary naturally, and migration viewing depends on the season and the herds’ movements.

Allow approximately 6–7 hours for the return journey, depending on conditions and stops. A packed lunch is provided for the journey. Your driver-guide will drop you at your Nairobi hotel or the airport as agreed.
For an onward flight, confirm the departure time with us before booking so we can plan an appropriate transfer buffer. A return flight from the Mara can be quoted separately.

Private Safari Vehicle & Guiding
Your Private 4×4 Land Cruiser
Travel in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser reserved for your party, providing continuity from Nairobi pickup through your safari and return transfer. The pop-up roof offers elevated wildlife viewing and photography opportunities while the vehicle is stationary.
Your group travels with its own driver-guide, allowing game-drive plans to reflect your interests and preferred pace. Vehicle allocation and passenger seating are confirmed before travel, particularly for families or parties of six.
Dedicated Driver-Guide & Flexible Game Drives
Your English-speaking driver-guide handles the road journey, wildlife viewing and daily safari coordination. Ask questions, share your wildlife interests and agree on suitable breaks and game-drive arrangements.
Choose longer outings with picnic lunches or separate morning and afternoon drives where practical. All activities follow reserve regulations, designated access routes and permitted operating hours.
Are Lodge-Operated Game Drives Included?
The standard package uses your allocated private Land Cruiser and driver-guide for the scheduled game drives.
A lodge-operated vehicle is a separate arrangement. If requested, we will confirm its availability, any additional cost and whether it is private or shared before booking. Private use of a lodge vehicle is included only when expressly stated in your quotation.
Optional Experiences & Fly-In Upgrades
Personalise your 4-day Masai Mara luxury safari with an additional experience or a flight upgrade. The standard package includes private road transport, scheduled game drives and three nights at Mara Serena Safari Lodge. The following options are charged separately unless expressly included in your quotation.

| Return Flight to Nairobi | Replace the final road journey with a scheduled flight from a suitable Mara airstrip. | A revised package price confirms the flight, airstrip transfer and any onward Nairobi transfer. |
| Return Fly-In Safari | Fly between Nairobi and the Mara instead of travelling by road in both directions. | Quoted as a revised itinerary, with airstrip transfers, safari vehicle and private guiding arrangements confirmed before booking. |
| Special Lodge Experiences | Request a bush breakfast, special dining experience or spa treatment. | Subject to lodge availability and separate charges. |
Fly-In Safari: Flights & Luggage
Scheduled Mara flights commonly use Wilson Airport in Nairobi, which is separate from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Your quotation will confirm the airline, suitable airstrip, flight schedule and ground transfers. Allow sufficient time between a bush flight and any onward international departure.
Luggage limits depend on the airline. For example, Safarilink’s Mara allowance is 15 kg per person, including hand luggage, packed in soft bags. We will confirm the applicable allowance before booking.
Request your preferred upgrades when enquiring so we can provide one clear quotation covering the complete journey.
Best Time for a Masai Mara Luxury Safari
The Masai Mara offers rewarding wildlife viewing throughout the year. Choose your dates around your priorities: migration viewing, quieter travel, seasonal landscapes or the best available price.
- January–March: A balance of wildlife viewing and value. Often a good choice for travellers seeking resident wildlife without the main migration-season demand. Rainfall and conditions vary.
- April: The lowest advertised package rates. Travel during the wetter season can bring green landscapes and quieter surroundings, although muddy tracks and rain may affect safari plans.
- May–June: Request a date-specific quotation. Conditions change as the wetter months give way to the main safari season. Rates for these months are available on enquiry.
- July–October: The main migration-viewing period. Kenya’s tourism board identifies this as the usual Mara migration window. Herd movements depend on rainfall, and neither migration sightings nor river crossings can be guaranteed.
- November–20 December: An alternative to peak-season travel. Enjoy resident wildlife and changing seasonal landscapes, with showers possible. Your package rates are lower than the peak and festive rates.
- 21 December–1 January: Festive-season travel. Book early for your preferred accommodation and room arrangements. Festive pricing applies even though this is outside the usual main migration window.
How Travel Dates Affect Your Safari Price

| Mid | 1 November–20 December | USD 1,520 |
| Peak & Festive | 1 July–31 October; 21 December–1 January | USD 2,190 |
These starting prices are based on six travellers sharing one private vehicle and twin/double accommodation. Smaller parties pay the corresponding rates in the full pricing table.
