Mikumi National Park
Location: Mikumi National Park the fourth-largest park in Tanzania, covering an area of 3,230 km². It is located about 250km west of Dar es Salaam and is the closest national park to the city. It is part of a much larger ecosystem centered on the uniquely vast Selous Game Reserve
Wildlife: Mikumi is one of the most reliable places in Tanzania for sightings of the powerful eland, the world’s largest antelope. Other animals found include kudu, sable antelope, Zebras, wildebeests, impala, buffaloes, Lions, giraffes, elephants, Coke’s hartebeest, leopards, crocodiles, endangered wild dogs, hippos, boars, and numerous amounts of birds with more than 400 species recorded.
Climate: Because of its short distance from the equator, the climate in Mikumi varies from warm to hot and humid, with little change. The nights in Mikumi are not cold, but rather warm year-round. The warmest months are October to March, and the coolest are June to August.
Dry season (June to October), afternoon temperatures are usually around 27°C/81°F. Days are bright and clear. These are the coldest months. Night temperatures drop to about 18°C/64°F.
Wet season (November to May), It is hot and humid in the Wet season. Afternoon temperatures are usually around 30°C/86°F and night temperatures are around 21°C/70°F.

• Good sightings of worlds’ largest Antelope – Eland, and rare greater kudu and sable Antelopes and spectacular concentration of variety of animals in Mkata flood plain
