Selous National reserve
Location: Selous National reserve is one of the largest faunal reserves of the world, located in the south of Tanzania, 373 km from Dar es Salaam. The reserve covers a total area of 50,000 km2 (19,000 sq m) and.
Wildlife: Selous harbours one of the most significant concentrations of elephant, black rhinoceros, cheetah, giraffe, lions, hippopotamus and crocodile. The reserve is home to over 50% of the remaining endangered African wild dog. Other animals include Cape buffaloes, hyena, baboon, wildebeest, waterbuck, impala, Plains zebras, hartebeest, colobus and vervet monkeys, majestic sable and puku.
Birdlife is fantastic with over 440 species recorded. Common birds include yellow-billed storks, kingfishers, lapwings and colorful bee-eaters.

Climate: The climate of Selous can be described as warm to hot and humid. Being so close to the equator, temperatures are relatively consistent throughout the year. Nights are warm.
Dry season (June to October), most days are full of sunshine and have a clear sky. Afternoon temperatures are usually around 28°C/82°F. Night temperatures drop to about 19°C/66°F.
Wet season (November to May), In the Wet season, high temperatures are common, along with great humidity. Afternoons are usually around 29°C/84°F and nights drop to 22°C/72°F.
