Tanzania All Inclusive Safari Packages 20252027
Tanzania All Inclusive Safari Packages 20252027

Day 1: Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport – Transfer to Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania! On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, an African Paradise Safaris representative will meet your family and transfer you to Rivertrees Country Inn. Allow approximately one to one-and-a-half hours for the journey, depending on traffic. After checking into your family accommodation, spend the rest of the day recovering from your flight and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. There are no scheduled excursions today, giving children time to settle in. Your safari briefing will be arranged around your arrival time, covering the route, daily routines and any dietary or family requirements.

Overnight: Rivertrees Country Inn — family accommodation
Meals: Bed and breakfast; lunch and dinner at your own expense
Travel expectations: Approximately 1–1.5 hours by road after airport formalities.

Day 2: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, meet your private safari guide and depart for Tarangire National Park. The drive takes you through rural landscapes and small settlements, with a comfort stop along the way. Once inside the park, begin looking for elephants, giraffes, zebra and antelope among the baobabs and woodland. Your guide will introduce younger travellers to animal behaviour and help them spot wildlife at their own pace. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated site before continuing your game drive. Later, leave the park and travel to Burunge Tented Lodge for dinner and your first evening near the wilderness.

Overnight: Burunge Tented Lodge — family accommodation
Meals: Breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner
Travel expectations: Approximately 2.5–3.5 hours to the park entrance, followed by wildlife viewing and the transfer to your lodge.

Day 3: Tarangire Family Game Drive & Lodge Relaxation

Enjoy another day exploring Tarangire, with the timing discussed with your guide the evening before. An early start allows you to experience the park in the cooler morning hours, watching for elephant families, browsing giraffes and colourful birds. Rather than rushing between sightings, take time to observe the animals and enjoy the changing scenery. Depending on your family’s preferences and the distances involved, return to the lodge for lunch or carry a picnic. The afternoon can include further wildlife viewing or a return to the lodge for a quieter finish before dinner.

Overnight: Burunge Tented Lodge — family accommodation
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Travel expectations: Variable game-drive distances; returning to the lodge during the day depends on your location within the park.

Day 4: Tarangire Area – Karatu & Ngorongoro Highlands

After breakfast, leave the Tarangire area and travel towards Karatu, passing through villages and farmland as the landscape rises towards the Ngorongoro highlands. Today provides a useful break between the longer wildlife days. Your guide can arrange suitable stops during the journey before you reach Ngorongoro Farm House. After checking into your family accommodation, enjoy a relaxed afternoon in the grounds or rest in preparation for tomorrow’s early departure. Any optional local activity should be arranged according to availability and your children’s ages. Have an early evening before your Ngorongoro Crater visit.

Overnight: Ngorongoro Farm House — family accommodation
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Travel expectations: Approximately 3–4 hours by road, allowing for comfort stops.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive – Serengeti National Park

Depart early with a packed breakfast or after an early breakfast, depending on lodge arrangements. Travel to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the crater for a morning game drive. Look for grazing herds, lions, hyenas and, with luck, black rhino while your guide explains the different habitats. After your crater visit and picnic lunch, continue towards Serengeti, crossing open landscapes before reaching your camp. This is the longest day of the itinerary, combining wildlife viewing with a substantial transfer. Arrive at Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp for dinner and a well-earned rest.

Overnight: Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp — family accommodation
Meals:Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Travel expectations: Allow approximately 9–11 hours overall, including the crater visit, transfers, formalities and stops; road conditions can extend the day.

Day 6: Explore Central Serengeti with Your Private Guide

Wake to the sounds of the bush before setting out to explore Serengeti with your private guide. Today is devoted to wildlife viewing, with time to watch animals rather than simply move between sightings. Search for lions resting near rocky outcrops, giraffes moving across the plains and hippos gathered around suitable water sources. Your guide will select the route according to current sightings and conditions. Choose a picnic outing or, where distances permit, shorter drives with a camp break. Children can keep a wildlife checklist, ask questions and learn how to recognise tracks and different species.

Overnight: Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp — family accommodation
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Travel expectations: Several hours on safari tracks, with the route and breaks agreed with your guide.

Day 7: Another Serengeti Safari Day – Wildlife at Your Family’s Pace

Spend a second full day discovering Serengeti, giving your family another opportunity to enjoy its wildlife without changing accommodation. You may revisit an area where animals were active or explore a different part of the surrounding landscape. Your guide will explain how predators, grazing animals and smaller creatures fit into this ecosystem. Migration herds may be accessible depending on the season, but their location and river crossings cannot be guaranteed. Balance wildlife viewing with suitable meal and comfort breaks, then return to camp before evening to enjoy your final night in the Serengeti wilderness.

Overnight: Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp — family accommodation
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Travel expectations: Flexible game-drive distances; reaching distant migration areas is outside the standard Central Serengeti programme.

Day 8: Serengeti – Flight to Zanzibar & Beach Transfer

After breakfast, say goodbye to your camp team and transfer to the airstrip for your planned flight to Zanzibar. Depending on the flight time and camp location, you may see wildlife along the way, although a separate game drive is not guaranteed. The flight may involve intermediate stops or a connection, according to the booked service. On arrival in Zanzibar, meet your transfer representative and continue to Turaco Nungwi Resort. Check into your family room and settle into the slower rhythm of the coast, with the remainder of the day free to relax.

Overnight: Turaco Nungwi Resort — family accommodation
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Travel expectations: Airstrip transfer time varies; allow approximately 1.5–2 hours from Zanzibar airport to Nungwi, depending on traffic. Flight schedule and inclusion require confirmation.

Day 9: Zanzibar Beach & Family Relaxation

Enjoy your first full day in Zanzibar without a scheduled excursion. After the safari’s early starts, take the opportunity to sleep a little longer and plan the day around your family’s preferences. Spend time at the beach, enjoy the resort’s facilities or find a shaded place to read and relax together. Sea conditions and tides influence swimming, so follow local advice before entering the water. Keep younger children within close reach around the beach and pool. Meals follow your confirmed resort arrangement, and any extra food, drinks or activities can be settled directly where applicable.

Overnight: Turaco Nungwi Resort — family accommodation
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Travel expectations: No scheduled driving.

Day 10: Free Day in Zanzibar – Optional Family Excursion

Today remains flexible, allowing your family to choose between another beach day and an optional excursion. A guided spice-farm visit can introduce children to familiar ingredients growing in their natural setting, while a Stone Town visit offers an opportunity to explore Zanzibar’s history. Either option involves road travel from Nungwi, so discuss the duration and suitability with your representative before booking. Families interested in a boat or snorkelling outing should check age requirements, equipment and sea conditions. All excursions are optional and charged separately unless expressly included in your final booking.

Overnight: Turaco Nungwi Resort — family accommodation
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Travel expectations: No driving if you remain at the resort; excursion journeys vary and can occupy much of the day.

Day 11: Final Full Day on Zanzibar’s Coast

Make the most of your final full day in Zanzibar with an unhurried programme. You might enjoy a morning beach walk, time in the resort grounds or another opportunity to swim when conditions are suitable. Keeping today free also gives your family flexibility if an earlier optional activity was postponed because of weather. Spend the afternoon relaxing and sharing favourite moments from the safari, from Tarangire’s elephants to your Serengeti wildlife encounters. Later, confirm tomorrow’s airport pickup, check your flight details and prepare your luggage so departure morning feels straightforward and relaxed.

Overnight: Turaco Nungwi Resort — family accommodation
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Travel expectations: No scheduled driving; optional activities cost extra.

Day 12: Zanzibar – Airport Transfer & Departure

Enjoy breakfast if your departure time permits, followed by any remaining free time before your airport transfer. Your driver will collect your family at the agreed time for the journey from Nungwi to Zanzibar airport. Allow approximately one-and-a-half to two hours on the road, with additional time built in for traffic and airline check-in requirements. If your flight departs late, luggage storage or a late checkout may be available through the resort; late checkout is subject to availability and possible extra charges. Your Tanzania family safari and Zanzibar beach holiday concludes at the airport.

Overnight: None
Meals: Breakfast
Travel expectations: Approximately 1.5–2 hours to the airport, plus the required check-in time.

Private Safari Vehicle & Family Travel Pace

Kenya Game drivesYour Private 4×4 Land Cruiser

Explore northern Tanzania in a private 4×4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, reserved for your family. Every traveller has a window seat, and each vehicle carries a maximum of seven guests.

The pop-up roof provides an elevated view during suitable wildlife stops. Children must remain under adult supervision, and your guide will explain when it is safe to stand and when everyone needs to remain seated.

A Safari Planned Around Your Family

Having your own vehicle gives you flexibility to spend longer at an interesting sighting, take suitable breaks and discuss the day’s priorities with your guide. Some families prefer early wildlife outings; others benefit from a slower start or a shorter afternoon drive.

Daily arrangements still depend on park rules, accommodation locations, road conditions and the distance to your next overnight stop. Returning to the lodge between game drives is possible only when the route makes it practical.

Travelling with Children

Tell African Paradise Safaris your children’s ages and any seating, dietary or comfort requirements before booking. Child seats and booster seats must be requested in advance, with availability and suitability confirmed before travel.

Keep sun protection, hats, snacks, medication and other essentials within reach during drives. Your guide will plan comfort stops where suitable facilities are available and help younger travellers engage with the safari through wildlife identification and questions.

Realistic Driving Expectations

This itinerary includes uneven safari tracks and some lengthy journeys. The Ngorongoro Crater–Serengeti day is the most demanding, combining a crater game drive with the onward transfer to camp.

Three consecutive Serengeti nights reduce packing and accommodation changes, while the planned flight to Zanzibar avoids the long road return to Arusha. Families with very young children can request a revised overnight sequence to spread out the longest travel day.

Best Time to Visit Tanzania & Zanzibar for a Family Holiday

For this Tanzania family safari and Zanzibar beach holiday, June–October and January–February are strong starting points when choosing dates. The best choice depends on your school holidays, preferred weather and whether your priority is general wildlife viewing or a tailored migration experience.

Zanzibar Beach Stay
Zanzibar Beach Stay

Seasonal Wildlife & Travel Conditions

Travel period Safari experience Family planning considerations
January–February Southern Serengeti and Ndutu can offer migration herds, newborn wildebeest and predator activity. Consider a southern camp if calving is a priority; allow for warm conditions and occasional rain.
March–May Green landscapes and wildlife viewing continue, but heavier seasonal rain can affect roads and travel times. Keep plans flexible, particularly for April–May; check camp opening dates.
June–October Generally drier conditions support wildlife viewing, particularly as animals gather near remaining water sources. Popular travel months require early booking for family rooms; pack layers for cool safari mornings.
November–December Short rains can bring greener scenery, migratory birds and changing herd movements. Allow for showers and book festive-season accommodation well ahead.

Rainfall varies between years, and migration movements follow grazing and water rather than fixed dates. Serengeti and Ngorongoro offer wildlife viewing throughout the year, while Tarangire is particularly rewarding during the dry season.

When Would the Serengeti Camp Location Change?

The standard itinerary uses Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp as a Central Serengeti base. This supports a balanced family safari without making the holiday dependent on finding the migration.

If following the herds is your main priority, African Paradise Safaris can recommend a revised camp location:

  • January–March: Consider the southern Serengeti or Ndutu area for the calving season.
  • Around June: Consider the Western Corridor, depending on current herd movements.
  • During the northern migration period: Consider a northern Serengeti stay rather than attempting lengthy outings from Central Serengeti.

These are tailored itinerary changes. A different camp may affect accommodation costs, driving distances and the departure airstrip for your included Zanzibar flight. Any change will be agreed before booking. Migration sightings and river crossings cannot be guaranteed.

Zanzibar Beach Stay & Optional Activities

Four Nights at Turaco Nungwi Resort

After your safari, take your included flight from Serengeti to Zanzibar, followed by a private transfer to Turaco Nungwi Resort. Your four-night stay in family accommodation provides time to relax without packing and moving between hotels.

Located in Nungwi on Zanzibar’s northern coast, the resort offers a sandy beachfront, an outdoor freshwater swimming pool, beach loungers and shaded relaxation areas. It provides a comfortable setting for quiet mornings, beach walks and time together after the safari.

Full-Board Meals Included

Your Zanzibar stay includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. Drinks, premium dining experiences and room service are charged separately unless specifically included in your booking.

Please share allergies, dietary requirements and children’s meal needs before travel so arrangements can be discussed with the resort.

Optional Zanzibar Excursions

Your beach days remain free, and there is no requirement to book excursions.

Optional activity What to expect Family considerations
Guided spice-farm visit Discover how familiar spices and tropical plants grow. A gentle educational outing; allow for the road journey from Nungwi.
Stone Town walking tour Explore historic streets, architecture and local markets with a guide. Best planned around heat, walking tolerance and children’s interests.
Snorkelling excursion Explore marine life with a suitable boat operator. Subject to sea conditions, swimming ability, age rules and correctly fitting safety equipment.
Sunset dhow cruise Enjoy the coastline from a traditional sailing boat. Check boarding arrangements, child-sized life jackets and weather conditions before booking.

Excursions cost extra unless added to your confirmed quotation. Transport, entrance fees, equipment and meals depend on the selected activity. For families wanting a restful finish, all three full Zanzibar days can simply be enjoyed at the resort.

Family Safety, Health & Travel Planning

Prepare for Your Family’s Needs

Before booking, provide your children’s ages, relevant medical information, dietary requirements and any child-seat or cot requests. African Paradise Safaris will use these details to plan room arrangements and discuss suitable activities.

Carry essential medication in your hand luggage, together with prescriptions where appropriate. Pack sun protection, hats, comfortable closed shoes, lightweight clothing and a warm layer for cooler safari mornings.

Travel Health & Mosquito Protection

Arrange a travel-health consultation well before departure, particularly when travelling with young children. Discuss routine vaccinations, malaria prevention and medication suitable for each family member. Malaria precautions are relevant to this itinerary, including Zanzibar.

Use an age-appropriate insect repellent according to its instructions, cover exposed skin when practical and use the mosquito protection provided at your accommodation. Yellow fever certificate requirements depend on your arrival route and transit history, so check your complete flight itinerary with your clinician and the relevant authorities.

Insurance & Travel Documents

Choose comprehensive travel insurance covering medical treatment, emergency evacuation, cancellation and your planned activities. Check that every child is named or covered under the family policy.

Government-required inbound insurance is a separate entry requirement. Confirm the applicable mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar arrangements through official channels before departure, alongside passport and visa requirements for each traveller. Requirements may change before your 2027–2028 holiday.

Wildlife Camp Supervision

At safari camps, keep children with a responsible adult and follow the camp team’s briefing. Wildlife may move through the surrounding area, so children should not explore alone. Use staff escorts whenever instructed, particularly after dark, and keep tents secured according to camp guidance.

During game drives, follow your guide’s instructions, remain inside the vehicle except at authorised stops and supervise children around the open roof.

Swimming Pools & Ocean Safety

Turaco Nungwi Resort’s outdoor pool is confirmed by the property. Parents should actively supervise children around the pool and beach, including when accommodation staff are nearby. Staff presence should not be assumed to provide individual childcare or a dedicated lifeguard service.

Check pool opening hours, depths and supervision arrangements on arrival. Before ocean swimming or boat activities, seek local advice about tides, currents and weather, and use properly fitting life jackets where required.

Domestic Flight & Luggage Planning

Your Serengeti–Zanzibar flight is included. Pack with the booked airline’s baggage allowance in mind, as safari aircraft may have stricter weight and bag-size limits than international services. Your travel documents will confirm the allowance and any requirements for soft-sided luggage.

Frequently Asked Questions About This Tanzania Family Safari & Zanzibar Holiday

How much does the 12-day Tanzania family safari and Zanzibar holiday cost?

Prices start from USD 4,580 per adult, based on two adults sharing family accommodation with their children. Children aged 3–11.99 years pay from USD 1,995, while children aged 12–17.99 years pay from USD 3,195. Your final quotation depends on travel dates, room arrangements and availability.

Is this a private safari or a shared group tour?

This is a private family safari. Your mainland safari vehicle and driver-guide are reserved for your family. You travel in a 4×4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof and a window seat for every traveller, carrying a maximum of seven guests. The Serengeti–Zanzibar flight is a scheduled service shared with other passengers.

Is this holiday suitable for young children?

The itinerary can be adapted for families with young children, but parents should consider the long driving days, uneven safari tracks and wildlife-camp environment. Tell African Paradise Safaris your children’s ages before booking so we can discuss suitable pacing, room arrangements and seating requirements. The rate for children under three is quoted separately.

Will we stay together in a family room?

The package is based on family accommodation throughout. Exact room categories, beds and occupancy limits are confirmed for your family before booking. Larger families may need additional rooms. Please request cots, extra beds or particular sleeping arrangements in advance, as these depend on property availability.

Which meals are included?

Your first night at Rivertrees Country Inn includes breakfast. The remaining ten nights at Burunge Tented Lodge, Ngorongoro Farm House, Serengeti Kati Kati Tented Camp and Turaco Nungwi Resort are on full board, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Safari lunches may be packed picnics. Drinks are charged separately unless expressly included in your quotation.

Is the flight from Serengeti to Zanzibar included?

Yes. The domestic Serengeti–Zanzibar flight is included, together with your camp-to-airstrip transfer and Zanzibar airport transfers. The flight may include intermediate stops or a connection, depending on the booked service. Your final travel documents will confirm the schedule, routing and baggage allowance.

Where does the holiday start and finish?

The holiday starts at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where your arrival transfer takes you to Arusha. It finishes at Zanzibar Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) after your beach stay. International flights are excluded, so plan to arrive at JRO and depart from ZNZ.

How much driving should we expect?

Transfer days involve several hours on the road, while game drives take place on uneven park tracks. The Ngorongoro Crater–Serengeti day is the longest, potentially taking approximately 9–11 hours overall, including wildlife viewing, stops and formalities.

Three consecutive Serengeti nights reduce accommodation changes, and the included Zanzibar flight avoids the road return to Arusha. Families seeking a gentler pace can request a revised overnight sequence.

Can we shorten game drives or return to camp for a break?

Your private guide can adjust outings and breaks around your family’s interests wherever practical. Returning to camp during the day depends on your location and driving distances. On transfer days, reaching your next accommodation limits flexibility. Discuss your preferences with your guide before each day’s departure.

Are child seats available in the safari vehicle?

Please request a child seat or booster seat when enquiring and provide your child’s age, height and weight. Availability, suitability and vehicle compatibility must be confirmed before booking. Do not assume a seat will be available without an advance arrangement.

What luggage can we bring on the Serengeti–Zanzibar flight?

Safari aircraft have limited luggage space, and baggage rules can differ from your international airline’s allowance. Use the weight and bag-size limits confirmed for your booked domestic flight. Soft-sided bags may be required. Tell us in advance about pushchairs, medical equipment or additional luggage so carriage arrangements can be checked.

Can you accommodate allergies and special dietary needs?

Please advise us of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, religious or other dietary requirements before booking. For allergies, explain the severity and any cross-contamination concerns so these can be discussed with each property. Specific ingredients and preparation arrangements depend on the accommodation; we cannot promise an allergen-free environment without explicit confirmation.

Will we see the Great Migration or all the Big Five?

The itinerary offers opportunities to look for a wide range of wildlife, but individual species, migration herds and river crossings cannot be guaranteed. The standard Serengeti stay focuses on Central Serengeti. If the migration is your priority, we can recommend a seasonal camp change, which may affect the price and route.

Are Zanzibar excursions included?

Your four-night Zanzibar stay is designed for relaxation. Stone Town tours, spice-farm visits, snorkelling trips and sunset cruises are optional and cost extra unless added to your quotation. Activities depend on availability, weather, age requirements and suitability for your children.

Can we customise the itinerary before booking?

Yes. African Paradise Safaris can discuss additional nights, alternative accommodation, different room arrangements or a slower safari pace. Share your travel dates, number of adults, children’s ages and priorities so we can prepare a quotation that reflects your family’s needs.
